Constituyentes: Contiene un triterpeno: la glicirricina, que se transforma es ácido glicirrético, aumentando la secreción de mucus gástrico y disminuyendo la secreción de los pepsinógenos. La glicirricina, además de su acción antiúlcera tiene poder edulcorante, expectorante, antitusivo y cicatrizante. Contiene liquiritósido e isoliquiritósido (flavonoides) con acción antiespasmódica. Se han encontrado otra flavonona recientemente con actividad antiúlcera, superior a la glicirricina. Se trata de la 3-di-(metil-hexunorato)-4, 7-dihidroxiflavonol. Contiene además: sucrosa, dextrosa (5- 10%), almidón (30%), proteína, grasa, aceite esencial, resinas, asparragina.
